How did you get into bridal blogging? I started The Budget Savvy Bride mere weeks after getting engaged myself! I originally used the site as a way to keep track of all my frugal wedding ideas and inspiration, but it quickly grew into a very helpful resource to help other couples save money on their big day.
What do you love most about weddings? Weddings are such a happy and momentous occasion, and no matter how much a couple spends on their big day, the feelings of joy and love radiate out of the photos. It's still such a thrill to see and share real wedding photos, even after eight years blogging!
What’s the most underrated aspect of any ceremony? A connection to the guests. I love when couples find ways to make a portion of their ceremony interactive—whether it's by asking their guests to speak community vows of support for their marriage, or passing the rings to bless them.
Your secret to staying calm under pressure? When it comes to the wedding day or even my day-to-day life, I think just trying to find a bit of perspective on whatever is putting pressure on me. Nothing is as bad as it seems, and I always have so much to be grateful for. When I'm feeling stressed about something, it's important to pause, take a deep breath, and even count my blessings to help remind myself that whatever is bugging me isn't that bad.
Most unique wedding you’ve ever featured? We've featured hundreds of real weddings now, so that's a tough question! I would say I love the weddings with unique and personal details, like this brunch wedding that featured a donut cake, or this robot unicorn wedding because it was so original!
Your number one piece of advice for any blushing bride? It can be tempting to jump right into planning mode, but be sure to take some time to bask in your engagement. It's important to fully flesh out your wedding budget and what you can actually afford before booking vendors or your venue!
