How did you get into bridal blogging? I founded Wedding Wonderland in early 2012. At that time, I was starting to plan my own wedding and I fell in love with the wedding world! I was on Pinterest all the time and I basically couldn’t think about anything else. So, in order to avoid boring my fiancé to death, I started a blog where I could write everything I loved about weddings.
What do you love most about weddings? I love seeing how every couple makes their weddings unique and about them. I love celebrations full of details that reflect the bride and groom’s personalities and passions. Joyful, colorful and informal celebrations are my favorites!
What’s the most underrated aspect of any ceremony? The ceremony is the most important part of the day, it’s where your marriage starts, so I think it’s important to make it your own. You may choose a special location, or include meaningful readings or rituals. When I got married I wanted everyone to be in the moment, so we had an unplugged ceremony: no phones or cameras allowed until after the recessional. It made the job of our photographer easier and the ceremony more intimate and cozy.
Your secret to staying calm under pressure? Focusing on one task at a time, writing long to-do lists and making most of the work in advance. I recently started practicing yoga and meditation and that help a lot, at work and in everyday life.
Most unique wedding you’ve ever featured? Once I featured an incredible vintage circus themed wedding. The couple brought an authentic antique carousel in the Casa dell’Architettura, a gorgeous historical place in Rome which had never been used for a wedding before. It was so creative and fun that it must be one of my favorite weddings ever!
Your number one piece of advice for any blushing bride? Make some alone time for you and your groom on your wedding day, with a first look before the ceremony, or by having a sweetheart table at the reception, or maybe with a little walk between courses during dinner. These are the moments you’ll cherish the most. Also, I think it’s worth splurging on wedding photography. A good photographer can make even the simplest detail look amazing! The wedding day goes by so fast you’ll be glad to see the most precious moments captured in beautiful photographs.
