The blog spawning a quarterly magazine entitled, Chick Pea. Its success? Easy-to-follow recipes with everyday ingredients. Describe your cooking style in three words: Basic. Comforting. Seasonal.
What’s your signature dish? I make an amazing Tofu Scramble with Garlic-Roasted Brussel Sprouts.
What do you think is the most underrated ingredient? Either tofu or mushrooms, they get such a bad wrap but are staples in my everyday cooking.
What’s the best cooking advice you’ve ever received? Don’t be afraid to burn your food. To get a goodbrown edge, you can’t keep moving the food around in the pan and worrying about it, it’ll never cook. Just let it go. It’s been a good lesson I apply to my whole life, not just cooking.
If you could share a meal with anyone in history who would it be? I want to eat Tofutti ice cream sandwiches with David Duchovny because he’s so dreamy, why else?
